How do you write? What writing platforms do you use?
For my first draft I used The Reedsy Book Editor: A FREE Online Writing Tool | Reedsy. It really is wonderful, as you can set goals and keep on track of your word-count there.
I then moved to Microsoft Word for my second draft.
Big mistake.
My word never ever saves my work properly. I write 1200+ and it decides- you know what, Anne's too cheerful today, better bring it down to a good solid 0.
I thought I had got the upper-hand for once. The document with the 1200 words was in the Do you want to save this document? panel. I clicked Yes and saved it with the original name. Big mistake. I still couldn't open the document with 1200 words.
I then deleted the original document (don't worry I copied and pasted the text in another document to keep it safe). That should do the trick. The document with the 1200 words opened. Yes! I saved it...
Or at least, I thought I did. I think I accidentally saved my safety copy instead, though, because the 1200 words aren't there. Aargh!
UPDATE: I did it! I beat the computer! How you ask? How did my genius mind do this? I went into recycle bin, found Autosave June Lilies and... dun dun dun RESTORED it. I then proceeded to save it as June Lilies Novella. So now, I have June Lilies; June Lilies Novel and June Lilies Novella all stored on my computer.
So long as I have June Lilies Novella, I'm a happy parker.
How many words exactly did I save? 2241. And I worked myself out of a plot-hole. Can you imagine my relief?
I think this blog is turning me tech-savvy. I hope so.
Sometimes I want to curse Ada Lovelace and Charles Baggage and Alan Turing. Other times I can't thank them enough.
Sometimes I think I should stick to writing on pen-and-paper.
